Overview

The report describes how Ambatovy halted production from late March 2020 because of Covid-19 while maintaining environmental management, community relations and stakeholder engagement. It reports estimated overall GHG emissions of 635 kilotonnes of CO2 equivalent for the Mine, Plant and port facilities. The year-end direct workforce numbered 3,500, with 3,556 operational contractors, while community programs included Covid-19 support, education, livelihoods and local procurement. Biodiversity efforts continued through restoration, species monitoring, conservation offsets and ecological programs despite operational restrictions.
