Overview

The report presents AvalonBay's first comprehensive sustainability program across new development, redevelopment, existing communities, offices and jobsites. It reports six LEED and Energy Star certified communities covering 1,824 apartment homes, and nearly 200 sustainable projects completed through 2011 at 85 existing communities. Like-for-like energy consumption at communities operating throughout 2010 and 2011 declined by 2 million kWh in 2011.
