Overview

The report presents Barrick's 2012 responsible-mining performance across environmental, safety, human-rights and community topics. It reports 99,318,833 cubic meters of water consumed by mining and processing and 19.4 percent of electrical power sourced from renewables. Company-wide direct and indirect GHG emissions are reported at 6,013,548 tonnes, while Scope 3 business-travel emissions were 7,600 metric tons of CO2e. Four workplace fatalities occurred, involving three contractors and one employee.
