Overview

The report presents BHP Billiton's first consolidated HSEC performance disclosure. It records 13 employee or contractor fatalities during the period and reports 60.0 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, including indirect emissions. The report also provides group-wide resource data, including 396.3 petajoules of energy and 147 100 megalitres of fresh water consumption. BHP Billiton set a target to improve greenhouse gas intensity by not less than 5 per cent over 2002 to 2007.
