Overview

The report presents Caterpillar's 2012 sustainability strategy around innovation, technology and three principles: preventing waste, improving quality and developing better systems. It reports progress against 2020 operational aspirations, including a 25 percent absolute GHG reduction goal, 18.2 percent renewable energy share and 2.51 absolute million metric tons of CO2e emissions. Water use was 4.86 absolute billion gallons, while reported historical data was restated for acquisitions, data improvements and divestitures.
