Overview

The report describes Dell's environmental stewardship across product design, manufacturing, customer ownership and end-of-life management. It highlights global recycling and reuse of 159,135 tons of material from 1999 to 2002, with more than 80 percent of non-hazardous solid waste diverted from landfills. Worldwide electricity consumption per unit produced fell 14 percent from FY2002 to FY2003, from 7.27 to 6.23 KWh per unit. The report also details a Restricted Materials program banning more than 50 substances and expanded equipment recovery, reuse and recycling initiatives.
