Overview

The report describes the Furukawa Electric Group's group-wide effort to prevent global warming across production, products, logistics and non-production activities. It highlights environmentally friendly products, including MCPET's average 50% reduction in fluorescent lamps and battery improvements such as 15% higher charge acceptance. Over 90% of Group energy was generated by hydroelectric power, associated with a 112,000-ton annual CO2 reduction, while production-process changes reduced electricity use by 5,231 MWh per year and LPG by 151 tons per year. Logistics initiatives included joint rail-container transport that reduced annual CO2 emissions by approximately 242 tons.
