Overview

The report describes Gold Fields' F2009 sustainable development performance, including rollout of the Safe Production Rules and a Group total of 21 fatalities. It reports maintained ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and AS4801 certifications, South Deep's ISO14001 certification, and a 4.5 per cent year-on-year emissions reduction. The report also details community investment and local supplier development, including 639 HDSA vendors. An independent AA1000AS (2008) assurance engagement concluded that the report adequately represented Gold Fields' sustainability performance.
