Environment, Safety and Health Report

Overview

The report describes fiscal 2000 environmental, safety and health activities across Kao's Japanese operations. It reports 548,000 tons of CO2 emissions, total energy consumption of 229,000 KL converted to crude oil, and 30,000 tons of total waste. All eight Japanese plants had obtained ISO 14001 certification by April 2001, while final disposal fell to 4,500 tons. Kao also set a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 6% from fiscal 1990 levels by fiscal 2010.
