Green Initiatives Annual Report

Overview

The report describes MLGW's 2009 customer and internal green initiatives, including EcoBUILD, Green Power Switch, energy-efficiency programs, and resource conservation. EcoBUILD certified 96 homes in 2009 and had 529 certified homes as of 12/31/2009, with estimated avoidance of 1,983 tons of carbon dioxide. Green Power Switch covered 907 households and 18 business locations and represented 6.2 million kWh of renewable generation annually. Internally, MLGW tracked facility energy use, operated alternative-fuel vehicles, pursued efficiency upgrades, and maintained recycling programs.
