Sustainability Report

Overview

The report describes the Shoprite Group's 2016 sustainability activities across employees, the environment and communities. Employee numbers increased to 137 775, while 1 774 734 training hours were delivered. The Group reported approximately 1 650 000 tonnes of CO2e and set 2025 intensity-reduction targets against a 2014 baseline, including 50% per unit revenue. Community programmes served almost 4.5 million meals through soup trucks during the year.
