Overview

The report describes Smith+Nephew's new sustainability strategy for 2019, organized around people, planet and products, with sustainability oversight by the Board and its Compliance & Culture Committee. It reports 17,500+ employees, $5,138m in group revenue, 77,212 metric tonnes of location-based CO2e, 11,837 tonnes of total waste, and 650 (1,000m3) of water usage. Location-based CO2e was down 16% from 2016, while 76% of total waste was recycled, including energy recovery. The report also presents targets including a 10% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2016 by 2020 and an 80% absolute reduction in total life-cycle GHG emissions by 2050.
