Sustainability Report

Overview

The report describes UC RUSAL's 2016 sustainability performance across climate, environment, safety and people. It highlights a 15% reduction target for direct specific greenhouse-gas emissions at existing aluminium smelters by 2025 and reports that 95% of smelter electricity came from hydropower. Waste generated excluding overburden rocks fell to 13.8 million tonnes, while total workplace fatalities rose to ten. The report also details extensive HSE management, employee training and community investment programmes.
