Overview

The report presents the University of Birmingham's 2021/22 carbon footprint of 330,991 tCO2e, with Scope 1 at 35,949 tCO2e, Scope 2 at 6,918 tCO2e and Scope 3 at 288,124 tCO2e. It adopted the EAUC Standardised Carbon Emissions Framework based on the GHG Protocol and re-baselined its 2020/21 emissions. The University has set net-zero commitments for Scopes 1 and 2 by 2035 and Scope 3 by 2045. Procurement calculations combined supplier-specific data with the HESCET tool, although the report notes material uncertainty in the estimates.
