Overview

The report presents the University of Helsinki's 2025 sustainability and responsibility work across research, teaching, societal interaction, operations and community wellbeing. It reports a 55,467 tCO2e carbon footprint, including Scope 1 of 1,546 tonnes, Scope 2 of 9,651 tonnes and Scope 3 of 44,270 tonnes, and describes a carbon-neutral-by-2030 goal that will be critically reviewed. Operational highlights include 193 GWh of energy consumption, 277,304 m3 of water consumption and 2,680 tonnes of waste. The report also records 9,063 staff and progress on equality, diversity and sustainable wellbeing plans.
