Sustainability Report

Overview

The report describes UTS's 2023 sustainability activity across operations, teaching, research and community engagement, structured around the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The university updated its Sustainability Policy and developed a five-year Sustainability Strategy, both endorsed in October 2023. Operational highlights include a retail renewable electricity PPA, 148,000kL of water consumption, and an 86% diversion-from-landfill rate. UTS reported 33,751 tonnes of combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions, 56,234 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions, and a plan to achieve Net Zero and Climate Positive by 2029.
