Sustainable Development Report

Overview

The report presents Vedanta's FY 2008-09 sustainability performance across environmental stewardship, people, safety and communities. It reports 30,035 full-time employees and 22 fatalities, alongside total energy consumption calculated from direct and indirect energy disclosures. Community programmes reached 2.5 million people and CSR spending was 24.6 million USD. KPMG provided limited assurance over all core indicators, excluding economic performance and prior-year data.
