Overview

The report presents Countdown's FY16 New Zealand corporate responsibility activity, including a nationwide Food Rescue programme and around 18,000 employees. It highlights 78,462kg of food collected in FY16 and more than 29,000 items delivered through The Foodbank Project. Environmentally, Countdown says it achieved its 2006 footprint goal, while reporting 178,371 tonnes of FY16 carbon emissions and a 34% reduction in waste to landfill since 2006. It also describes responsible sourcing, including RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil and New Zealand sourcing for fresh chicken, pork and lamb.
