Sustainability Report

The report covers AEGON's 2009 global sustainability performance, including 28,382 employees and environmental data extrapolated across its global workforce. It reports a 4% renewable energy share, 754,948 cubic meters of water consumption, and 3,660 metric tons of waste, while electricity consumption fell 9.9%. AEGON introduced limited external assurance covering the entire report and described governance involving its Executive and Supervisory Boards. The company also established a Global Green Team and continued work toward carbon-reduction and responsible-investment targets.
