Sustainability Report

The report describes American Water's achievement of its water-system resilience goal in 2025, five years ahead of schedule, with a 14% increase in its Utility Resilience Index. It sets a 50% absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction target by 2035 from a 2020 baseline and a net-zero target by 2050. For 2025, reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions totaled 498,532 MT CO2e, while the report also covers water access, water quality, employee safety, talent, infrastructure resilience and biodiversity.
