Sustainability Report

The report describes Anglo American's 2021 sustainability performance across safety, climate, environmental stewardship, communities and workforce inclusion. It reports one work-related fatal injury, 85 million GJ of energy consumption and 14.8 Mt CO2e of Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The company had set a 30% absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction target by 2030 and carbon neutrality across operations by 2040, alongside a 50% Scope 3 reduction ambition by 2040. The report also details COVID-19 support, social investment and responsible mining initiatives, and reproduces independent assurance by IBIS ESG Consulting Africa.
