Annual Report

The report describes how ArcelorMittal South Africa responded to the 2009 steel-market downturn, reporting lower revenue and a headline loss while retaining permanent staff and continuing training. It reports five worker fatalities at its operations and says safety remained a priority. The company set a target to reduce specific emissions per tonne by 8% by 2020 from a 2007 base year. It also invested more than R60 million in training, bursaries and skills development.
