Environmental Report

Overview

The report covers Athens International Airport's 2006 environmental performance, including recertification of its Environmental Services Department under ISO 14001:2004. It describes energy-saving measures that delivered 3750 MWh of savings, extensive air-quality and aircraft-noise monitoring, and treated wastewater used for irrigation. Waste management was a major focus: the airport generated 12,823 tonnes of waste and recycled 1,718 tonnes of recyclable material, representing 14.2% of solid non-hazardous waste.
