Overview

The report presents BEA's 2023 sustainability approach through responsible business, operations and citizen pillars, supported by board-level ESG governance. It highlights BEA's membership in the Net-Zero Banking Alliance and a 2050 net-zero commitment for lending and investment portfolios. Group green and sustainable finance loans and ESG bond investments reached nearly HK$71 billion, or 14.9% of loans and bond investments, while Scope 1 and 2 absolute emissions fell 31% from the 2019 baseline. BEA also established a Group-wide Sustainable Building Policy and expanded climate-risk tools, including a heatmap and stress testing.
