Brick Industry Sustainability Strategy Progress Report

The report reviews ten years of UK and Ireland clay brick industry sustainability performance from 2002-2011. It highlights a 73% reduction in reportable accidents, a 76% reduction in working days lost, and increased ISO 14001 coverage. Waste sent to landfill fell below 4,000 tonnes per year, while non-mains water reached 31% of total water use in 2011. It also reports £4.6 billion in accumulated UK brick-sales turnover and continuing investment in energy efficiency.
