Overview

The report presents Canon's 2008 sustainability approach through five materiality themes selected using a questionnaire of 59 external stakeholders across Japan, the Americas, Europe and Asia. It describes a lifecycle-based environmental program and reports 6,540,000 tons of 2008 CO2 emissions, with 71% arising outside operational sites. The report also records 166,980 consolidated employees at year-end and highlights the formation of two institutes in 2008 to support global studies and academic research.
