The report presents Continental's 2011 sustainability performance across economic, environmental, labor, human-rights, society, and product-responsibility topics. It reports 163,788 employees, 23.9 million gigajoules of total energy consumption, 14.2 million cubic meters of water consumption, and 244,000 tonnes of waste. Total CO2 emissions were 2.93 million tonnes, while the company participated in CDP and operated a sustainability council. KPMG AG conducted limited assurance over selected direct, indirect, and specific CO2 indicators.
