Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Overview

The report covers 2009 Group CSR performance across governance, environment and climate change, health and safety, social policy and stakeholder communications. It reports 9.4m tonnes of direct Scope 1 CO2 emissions, 20.1TWh of Group energy use and 1.5m tonnes of waste generated. Safety disclosures record eight employee and contractor fatalities in subsidiaries and a 25% improvement in accident frequency. DNV independently verified the report and concluded that it provides a reliable and fair representation of CRH's CSR performance.
