Sustainability Report

The report presents Duke Energy's 2010 sustainability performance across five focus areas, including environmental footprint, workforce safety and community impacts. It reports 99,900 thousand tons of total CO2 emissions from generation and a 5 percent reduction in CO2 emissions over the prior five-year period. The company recycled more than 24,000 tons of materials, representing about 63 percent of the total waste stream. Workforce reporting records five employee and contractor work-related fatalities in 2010, while highlighting the lowest employee Total Incident Case Rate in company history.
