Sustainability Report

The report describes Fortum's 2018 greenhouse gas emissions, renewable-energy production and circular-economy performance, alongside a difficult safety year with four severe occupational accidents and contractor fatalities. Fortum reported 20.2 million tonnes of Scope 1 emissions, 0.1 million tonnes of Scope 2 emissions and 6.1 million tonnes of Scope 3 emissions. Renewable energy represented 28% of power generation, while 59% of customer waste was recovered as materials. The report also details strengthened sustainability governance, with the Board of Directors holding the highest decision-making authority for sustainability matters.
