The report describes Galp Energia's 2008 expansion through the completed Agip and Esso Iberian marketing acquisitions and continued growth across its energy businesses. Employee numbers increased to 7,817, primarily following those acquisitions. The corporate responsibility section also highlights preventive safety programs, defensive-driving training and health, safety and environmental training. The year included one fatal accident involving a service-provider employee during maintenance at the Sines refinery.
