Annual Report

The report records a 30.6% rise in Group turnover to EUR 14,187 million, principally reflecting the first full-year inclusion of Hanson. It describes progress on biodiversity and states that a Group guideline for quarry renaturation and recultivation was adopted. The report says its 15% specific net CO2-reduction goal had already been achieved in 2007, while a new goal was still being set. Workplace safety remained a concern, with four fatalities reported for 2008.
