Sustainability Strategy

The report sets KiwiRail’s sustainability priorities for 2025-2028 across the economy, environment, and society. It includes targets for reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40% by 2035 from a FY19 baseline and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. It also describes plans for climate adaptation, biodiversity, sustainable procurement, and workplace safety and wellbeing. On waste, it reports ongoing recycling and diversion work and sets targets for operational recycling and construction-waste diversion.
