Annual Report

The report describes recurring materiality analyses and a Group-wide responsibility approach. Merck set a target to reduce total direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020, measured against 2006 levels. It reports 2011 energy consumption of 1,454 GWh and total CO2eq emissions of 521 kilotons. The Group had 40,676 employees at year-end.
