Overview

The report describes METRO's 2020/21 materiality analysis and eight strategic sustainability focus areas, supported by group-wide KPI reporting on emissions, energy, water, waste and workforce diversity. It reports total greenhouse gas emissions of 3,884,591 t CO2 (CO2 equivalents), total energy consumption of 2,080,952 MWh and 218,579 t of waste generated. METRO also sets climate, food-waste, sourcing and diversity targets, including climate neutrality by 2040. Sustainability information was subject to limited external assurance by KPMG under ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3410.
