Sustainability Report

The report presents sustainability as integral to Metso's business strategy, highlighting eco-efficient solutions and environmental technology. In 2008, environmental business accounted for over half of net sales of EUR 6,400 million. It reports group-wide environmental data including 317,868 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 4,044 TJ of energy consumption, 1,905,946 cubic meters of water consumption and 124,409 tons of waste. The report also records 29,322 employees and three work-related fatalities, and describes global sustainability management through the CEO, CSR team and Executive Team.
