Sustainable Development Report

Overview

The report presents NALCO's first Sustainable Development Report for 2011-12, covering its nine Business Responsibility principles. It reports 7,705 employees and 13.3 million tonnes equivalent of carbon dioxide in GHG emissions from processes, fuel and purchased electricity. Community investment reached INR 21.38 crores, while afforestation covered 28 hectares with 70,000 trees planted. The report also describes renewable-energy, water-recycling, and waste-utilization initiatives.
