Overview

The report presents Nippon Paper Group's comprehensive biomass enterprise model, linking sustainable forest management, renewable wood use, biomass energy and recycling. For fiscal 2013, non-fossil energy represented 45% of total energy use, while the Group reported 13,107 consolidated employees and consolidated net sales of 1,081,277 million yen. Environmental disclosures cover 769,000 BD tonnes of waste generated and 883,000,000 tonnes of water consumption, alongside fossil-energy CO2 emissions. The report also describes a fatal occupational accident at Ishinomaki Mill and extensive forest certification and biodiversity activities.
