Overview

The report describes NiSource's strategy to retire coal assets by 2028, reduce Scope 1 emissions 90% by 2030, and reach net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040. For 2022, it reports 6,350,413 metric tonnes CO2e of Scope 1 emissions, 76,591 metric tonnes CO2e of Scope 2 emissions, and 15,642,202 metric tonnes CO2e of significant Scope 3 emissions in its supplemental data. Trinity provided limited assurance over the environmental KPIs. The workforce disclosure records 7,162 employees and a 12-member board with 33% women as of April 30, 2023, while biodiversity disclosures report 5,620 cumulative acres protected, enhanced, or restored.
