The report describes 2008 as Outokumpu's Corporate Responsibility Theme Year, with measurable goals for energy, waste, safety and employee well-being. Group-wide carbon dioxide emissions totaled 871 000 tons, while the injury rate was 9 per million hours worked. The report also highlights a new carbon monoxide gasholder that enabled 324 000 GJ of energy savings and reports that no work-related fatalities occurred. Its economic, environmental and social information was subject to an independent limited assurance engagement.
