Sustainability & ESG Supplement

The report presents Pearson's new 2030 Sustainability Strategy and materiality assessment, with a focus on education, skills and equity. It reports 2019 environmental performance including 80,421 metric tons CO2e of location-based total emissions, 129,720 MWh of total energy consumption and 100% electricity from renewable sources. It records 22,734 average employees, one work-related fatality and 33% women on the board. Pearson also states that it achieved its 2020 targets to reduce operational GHG emissions and building energy use by 50% ahead of schedule, and reports accordance with GRI, the UN Global Compact and the SDGs.
