The report says Rio Tinto’s safety record improved for a seventh consecutive year, although three employees died at managed operations in 2006. It reports 2.6 per cent improvement in energy efficiency and 0.3 per cent improvement in greenhouse-gas efficiency compared with 2003, while noting that both remained below the trajectory needed for the 2008 targets.
