Sustainability Report

Overview

The report presents Shell's 2020 social, safety and environmental performance within its Powering Progress strategy. It sets out the company's target to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050 and details short-, medium- and long-term carbon-intensity targets. The report also provides operational data, including 63 million tonnes CO2e of Scope 1 emissions, 127 million cubic metres of fresh water consumed and 87,000 employees. It describes governance through the Board and Safety, Environment and Sustainability Committee, alongside Shell's response to COVID-19 and its work on biodiversity, waste, human rights and energy access.
