Overview

The report presents Tesco's 2009/2010 corporate-responsibility performance across the Group. Environmental highlights include a global direct carbon footprint of 5.17 million tonnes of CO2e, a 7.8% reduction from the 2006/7 baseline portfolio of stores and distribution centres, the opening of the world's first operationally zero-carbon supermarket, and diversion of 100% of UK waste from going directly to landfill. Social highlights include the Trading Fairly supplier model, 472,000 employees worldwide, 270 Community Champions and £61.6 million donated to charities and good causes. The report also sets a zero-carbon business ambition for 2050 and further emissions-reduction targets for operations, supply-chain products and customers.
