Overview

The report describes the UBE Group's Responsible Care program, including a senior-management Group-Environment and Safety Committee and ISO 14001 certification for all company facilities as of August 2001. It also sets a 6.1% greenhouse-gas emissions reduction target by 2010 against 1990 levels. Environmental accounting for the year under review recorded ¥1.98 billion of pollution-control investment, ¥6.74 billion of environment-related expenses, and ¥4.33 billion of savings, mainly from energy conservation.
