Overview

The report describes UBS's post-merger environmental policy across banking, financial products and services, in-house ecology, and management. It reports ISO 14001 certification of UBS's worldwide banking operations, with Swiss in-house operations also recognized. UBS had 48 011 staff at 31 Dec. 1998 and conducted 35 in-house environmental audits during 1998. Its 1997 Swiss operational indicators include 251 000 MWh electricity, 187 000 MWh heat, 811 200 m3 water consumption, and 97 900 t carbon dioxide; the brochure states these indicators exclude affiliates.
