Overview

The report describes Union Bank of India's 2013-14 business-responsibility performance across governance, employee welfare, human rights, environmental initiatives, stakeholder engagement and inclusive growth. The bank reported 33,806 employees at 31 March 2014 and expanded access through 33,055 unbanked or marginally banked villages and 10,076 business correspondents. It more than quadrupled CSR spending to ₹. 3.77 Crores and supported village, sanitation, water and solar initiatives. Environmental actions included LED lighting, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient systems, although the report notes that ultimate carbon-footprint gains were not measurable.
