Overview

The report describes a challenging but successful 2016/17, with the company treating more patients while maintaining strong staff engagement and investing in facilities, research and digital capability. It reports over 10,969 staff, more than £760m of turnover, and substantial clinical research recruitment and funding. Environmental initiatives included energy-efficiency projects, 38,039,268 kilowatt hours of electricity consumption and 336,522m3 of water consumption. The Quality Report was subject to an independent limited assurance engagement by KPMG LLP covering two national quality indicators.
